ABOUT US
The Alabama Junior Golf Association (AJGO) is a NonProfit 501(c)(3) organization .
USGA
Each State has a single state-wide Junior Golf Association: in Alabama it is the Alabama Junior Golf Association (AJGO). The AGJO is a USGA State/regional golf association.
Why the AJGO requires USGA Handicaps
The AJGO requires that all players in our tournaments have a USGA handicap. The AJGO issues a USGA Handicap Indiex Number to all Members and Non-Members who enter our tournaments and do not a Handicap.
Many of the State, Regional and National-Level Tournaments require that a player have a calculated Handicap to be eligible for entry.
AJGO schedules tournaments statewide, so regardless of where you live in Alabama you will be able to play in as many as (15) tournaments during the summer golf season that are less than a 2-hour drive from your home.
Why the abbreviation "AJGO"?
There are several States that start with the letter "A" as such we needed an abbreviation that was different from "AJGA." Our web domain is AlabamaJuniorGolf.Org - AJGO!

For junior golfers who want to see "how far their ability can take them" the choice of which tournaments to play in is extremely important. College Coaches recruit players by following their tournament results at State, Regional and National Junior Golf Tournaments.
Those events are the "proving ground" coaches use to distinguish potential college players from recreational players.
The Alabama Junior Golf Association provides junior golfers in Alabama:
-
Our Statewide Schedule of more than (50) 1-Day Tournaments is run year-round.
-
We have (5) State Qualifying Tournaments for National Championships that provide players with the opportunities they need to earn Exemptions to enter the major National Junior Golf Championship Tournaments.
-
We issue USGA Handicap Player ID Numbers to all junior golfers in Alabama at no charge. Maintaining a USGA Handicap is very important for all competitive golfers. Many of the National-Level Tournaments require that a player have a calculated Handicap to be eligible for entry.
-
We have (3) State Championship Tournaments which are 2-Day events. The results are reported to the AJGA and the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
-
Our Player of the Year competition allows players to earn AJGA Performance Based Entry (PBE) Points that help them enter AJGA Tournaments.
